Sweetening the Spirit
As I gathered my herbs one afternoon wanting to take my mind of the current social and political climate surrounding the novel coronavirus. I decided to return what I’ve learned over the last 2.5 yrs is my self-care practice which is medicine making!
Honey is Medicine
It was an ingredient in medicinal compounds and cures made by Egyptian physicians 5,000 years ago. The use of honey as medicine is in other ancient practices from traditional Chinese medicine and Indian Ayurveda to Mayan shamanism. ~Excerpt from Waxingkara.com
RAW eaten honey is a natural medicinal that can support the body in many ways according to sources like healthline.com from wound healing, sore throat soothing, digestive aid, lowering blood pressure, improving cholesterol, contains antioxidants, phytonutrients and has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Making it a healthier sweetener compared to sugar and artificial sweeteners overall.
Honey vs. Over the Counter Products
Most times we look at our kitchen herbs and only see them as spices and seasonings, but truth be told the foods we eat do much more than fill our bellies. So many of the herbs we use have medicinal properties and administered properly they support our body in a way that aspirin or Tums never will.
Some of your common herbs like ginger, garlic, rosemary, thyme, basil, turmeric, cayenne and onion can support the lungs, throat, immune system, heart, brain, blood, inflammatory response, infection and so much more.
New Medicine at the Apothecary
